| Rote This is the most common offering (prasad) during the poojas (prayers) done for various occasions like marriage, birthday etc in Kumoani community. It is very crispy and tasty. Same dough can also rolled into ladoos. Ingredients: Wheat flour 500 Grams Gur (jaggery) or Sugar 150 grams Cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon Sauf (Fennel seeds powder) 1/2 tsp Water 100 ml Milk 100 ml Oil or Ghee 150 grams Method: 1. Put water in pan and bring it to boil and lower the flame. 2. Add crushed jaggery to the boiling water and stir it till it gets completely dissolved to make a consistent solution. 3. In a bowl start kneading the mixture of wheat flour, fennel seed powder and cardamom powder with the milk along and some oil/ghee. The more oil/ghee you put the more crisp and brittle the rote will become. 4. Now using the cooled down jaggery solution continue kneading the dough till it is soft enough to be rolled into thick circles like roties. 5. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into thick circles (shape of puris). 6. 6. In a pan or karahi, pour oil and heat it. 7. Put the rote in the heated oil and fry till golden brown. |
